Induction of Rev James Gilbert

The Induction Service of Rev James Gilbert took place in front of a packed church on Saturday, 3rd October.  The Service was led by Rev. David Abernethie who is a member of Above Bar Church, Southampton.  There were readings from Mark 10 v 35-45 read by Mrs Linda Fraser who is the Secretary of Gamlingay Baptist Church in Cambridgeshire where James had been Pastor for the last seven years, and from Isaiah 42 v 1-9 read by a friend of James, the Rev Ben Haslam.

The Induction was conducted by Rev Grenville Overton who is the Regional Minister Team Leader of the Southern Counties Baptist Association and the address was given by John Hogarth who is Assistant to the President of the Methodist Church and Curator Missioner and pastoral worker at Wesley Chapel, Cornwall.  

Expressions of welcome were given by the Town Mayor, Cllr. David Hawkins;  Michael Fradin, Ashley Baptist Church; Simeon Woodcraft, New Milton Evangelical Free Church;  John Fowler, New Life Church;  Revd. Andrew Bailey, Parish of New Milton;  and Robert Kitchin, Barton Methodist Church.

During the service, the following hymns were sung:  "To God be the glory";  "God is working His purpose out";  "Here is love vast as the ocean"; "Jesus shall take the highest honour";  "Let earth and heaven agree";  and "In Christ alone my hope is found", with musical accompaniment on the piano by Pauline Waygood.

Following the service, refreshments were served in the Church Hall.
